Comb of the Wind Lightbox (2025)

Artist Statement
Comb of the Wind Lightbox is a laser-cut, layered sculpture inspired by Eduardo Chillida’s El Peine del Viento. Five acrylic silhouettes (steel forms, wind, and waves) slide into a precision rail system inside a wooden enclosure, creating shifting depth as light passes through and casts shadows. The rails are modular, so new “landscapes” can be swapped into the same box. A garage-style front door (living hinge) opens for viewing, while a second compartment with a sliding panel houses the battery pack, switch, and circuitry for easy maintenance. Instead of LED strips, three clusters of three LEDs are wired in parallel to provide stable blue-and-white illumination.
