Robotic Arm (2025)
Jon Diaz

Instructor: Kelly Cave

Artist Statement
I made a 3D-printed robotic arm controlled by an Arduino and four servo motors. The arm has four degrees of freedom (base rotation, shoulder, elbow, and gripper). A potentiometer sets the base angle, while a two-axis joystick moves the shoulder and elbow in smooth, step-based increments, allowing the arm to hold its position when the joystick is released. The gripper snaps between open and closed positions for quick grabs. All electronics, including the breadboard and external power supply, are housed inside a transparent retro, laser-cut acrylic box so the circuitry remains visible as part of the sculpture.
